Sharma welcomes £180,000 revitalisation of Pangbourne station

3rd May 2013

Alok Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Reading West, on Friday 26 April 2013, visited Pangbourne Station with First Great Western to mark the completion of station improvements and a car park extension at Pangbourne station.

Following over £180,000 investment, including Department for Transport Station Commercial Projects funding, the car park has been extended to create an additional 35 spaces. Further work has also seen the toilet facilities refurbished and upgraded as part of FGW’s on-going station improvement plans.

Alok Sharma said: “I am pleased that First Great Western has invested in improving parking facilities for my constituents at Pangbourne station and I know this will be appreciated by local rail users.”

Alok continued: “More widely the government has embarked on the biggest rail modernisation programme since the Victorian era and Reading Station, which also serves many of my constituents and where First Great Western is working with Network Rail to deliver a station fit for the 21st century, is another excellent example of government investment in the railways.”

Welcoming the MP, First Great Western’s Sara Hibberd said: “FGW are continually looking at ways to improve our stations and improve access to the full range of services that we can offer. This £180,000 work will allow even more Pangbourne residents to park at the station, helping us to keep people moving in these congested times.”
